Please note, from the week commencing 27th July, our dispensary opening hours for Alvaston will temporarily change and you will only be able to collect medication between 2pm- 4pm.


Medicines Order Line (MOLs)

Due to the demand on the service the medicines order line have introduced a new way of ordering, please see information from MOLs below:

You may also be aware that to save patients waiting in a phone queue we have introduced a call back system where patients can email a request for a call back from a MOL operative. In the email itself patients will need to tell us: 1.The name of their GP practice 2.Their name 3.Their date of birth 4.Their contact telephone number 5.Press send Please note that no responses will be provided to patients via email as the purpose of email is to request a call back only. We expect to be able to call patients back within 48 hours (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) but that may vary according to the volume of enquiries we are processing. We will attempt to call patients back three times only.

How to order your repeat prescriptions

Prescription medicines order line (MOL) is now LIVE

If you have a chosen pharmacy, you will be asked to call the medicines order line to request your repeat prescription; this will no longer be done via the surgery or through the chemist.

All it takes is a simple phone call that you can make from the comfort of your own home. Your prescription can then be sent electronically to a nominated pharmacy of your choice (in exceptional circumstances it may be collected from your GP practice- though due to current pandemic you will be asked to nominate a pharmacy to minimise travelling and risk of catching the virus).

The aim of this service is to ensure patients receive the correct quantity of medication needed, in a timely manner, to reduce the amount of medication waste.

FACT: Unused prescription medicines cost the NHS in Derbyshire over £6 million every year. Only ordering what you need, when you need it, will save the NHS money to spend on more important services.

Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on long term/repeat medication can order repeat prescriptions in the following ways:

In person – drop your repeat slip off through the prescription post-box in the main reception, having clearly marked the items required.

Dispensary - If you live in Aston-on-Trent, Western-on-Trent, Shardlow and some parts of Thoulston you may be eligible for our Dispensing services. (You must live at least 1 mile away from the nearest Pharmacy). We will dispense your medication every month and if you're housebound, we could deliver to your door.

Online – via the SystmOnline link. If you do not already have a username and password for this system you will need to register for online services.

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO THE CURRENT PANDEMIC, WE ARE RECIEVING AN INCREASE IN MEDICATION REQUEST, SO DURING THIS TIME PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO ORDER YOUR MEDICATION !

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will need to have their medication reviewed at least once per year. Our Practice Pharmacist and Dispensary Manager can carry out medication reviews either face to face or via telephone.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
