Alvaston Medical Centre is proud to be an approved training practice.
We help trainees receive personalised tuition from an experienced GP who has had further training as an Educational Supervisor, as well as other members of the Primary Health Care Team.
We regularly have Foundation Year 2 (F2) Doctors and Registrars as part of our team at Alvaston Medical Centre.
F2 Doctors – Foundation Year Doctors, also known as F2’s, are all fully qualified Doctors who are working within the General Practice environment as part of their post qualification development and to help them decide on an area of medicine they would like to focus their career.
Many F2’s do go on to become GP’s in their own right. All our F2’s have access to a mentor, one of our experienced GPs, every day and are always supported as they run their own sessions.
GP Registrar or GP Trainee – Qualified doctors who are training to become a GP through a period of working and training in a GP practice.
They will usually have spent at least two years working in a hospital before you see them in a GP Practice and are closely supervised by a senior GP or trainer.
Students – We also support medical students and nursing students.
Patients will be notified if a student is present with the GP or Nurse. Patients are free to ask for the students to be excluded from their consultation, if preferred.
Feedback
We have been a training practice for many years and have received some very positive feedback regarding our trainees.
“Today is my last day at the practice and I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to you ALL! You have all been so welcoming and helpful.
I’ve learnt so much from my time here and have thoroughly enjoyed the rotation and could not have asked for a better GP practice to work in.”
